More than 200 needy families and homeless individuals in the Denver area benefited from the 566th Operations Support Squadron’s Unit Advisory Council sponsored “spring clean” drive. Unit members gathered clothes, sheets, towels and blankets for the drive. The week culminated in a drive-up and drop-off surge when more than 60 parcels of goods were organized to deliver to Central Shelter and Crawford Family Resource Center.
Central Shelter is an independent, non-profit agency that provides shelter, food and counseling for homeless, working individuals, enabling them to achieve independence and self sufficiency. According to Greg Johnson, Central Shelter’s senior case manager, the drive was a huge success and has “enriched the lives of more than 100 homeless individuals endeavoring to be positive contributors to the Denver community.”
Crawford Family Resource Center helps needy Denver families through counseling, providing crisis intervention, and job skills training.
“It was nice to see the unit come together for such a worthy cause and we look forward to further supporting the community in the months to come,” UAC President, TSgt. Arlene Poss, said.
